Waterbury Symphony: From Vienna's Golden Age

Written within the same decade, Schubert's melodious Grand Duo Sonata and Beethoven's tempestuous 5th Symphony (in a transcription by the composer for violin and piano) are like two sides of the same glittering coin that was Vienna in the early 19th century. This golden age was an apogee for the Imperial capitol, and the artistic and political triumphs of this age have yet to be equaled.
