Max Tan and Friends: The Beethoven Sonata Cycle Finale – Op. 96

Groupmuse Event Beethoven Sonatas.jpg

Finally, the finale! This is the final program of a 5-concert series spread out from January through May which will explore the entire Beethoven violin-piano sonata cycle. I will be joined by the impeccable Jinhee Park, a fellow Juilliard Doctoral colleague. As with previous events, this will be streamed in HD! I hope that you will join us for a program of spiritual fulfillment, reflection, and triumph as we explore sonata number 10, Beethoven's Opus 96. Similar to the program featuring sonatas 4 and 5, this sonata has pastoral qualities following the ninth sonata, which is stormy and dramatic. Although the fifth sonata is famously known as the "Spring" Sonata, it is increasingly with referred to as the "Little Spring;" the tenth sonata is known as the "Big Spring" for its more philosophical nature.

There will be additional encore gems on this program, including the "Rondino on a Theme by Beethoven" by Fritz Kreisler.
